Baking Salmon

Top three Recipes for Baking Salmon

Baking salmon is an easy way to make yourself and your family a quick and nutritious meal.  Most people don’t get enough fish in their diets, but salmon is such a versatile fish that you could make a different meal every day for a month without ever repeating yourself.  I wouldn’t recommend that much salmon, but once or twice a week salmon might be just what hits the spot.

Lemon-Baked Salmon

Baking salmon with lemon is one of the simplest and best recipes if you are pressed for time.  You buy salmon fillets (6-10 oz.) each—one for each person you plan to serve.  Before you begin, preheat the oven to 400 degrees.  Then put the salmon fillets on as much foil as it will take to completely wrap them.  You season them with a quartered lemon (one quarter each).  Then add a touch of salt, pepper, and paprika.  Add a tablespoon of butter, then cover them and bake for 15 to 20 minutes or until fully cooked all the way through.

This is really quick and easy to prepare, even after a long day, and what is even better is that you don’t have to spend more than 10 minutes total time in the kitchen.  This recipe goes great with rice pilaf and herb roasted potatoes.

Herb Roasted Salmon

If you want to spice up herb-roasted chicken, replacing the chicken with salmon is a great way of doing it.  When you are at the supermarket buying your salmon, you also buy herb mix.  If you can’t find the kind specifically for salmon, just use the kind for chicken—there really isn’t much difference.  You take salmon fillets again (6-10 oz.) and place them on a foil coated baking pan (the size depends on how much you plan to make, of course).  Place a thin layer of olive oil at the bottom of the plate.  Lightly salt the salmon and squeeze out some drops of lemon.  They sprinkle the herb mix over the salmon until you have an even coat.

Bake for 15 to 20 minutes or until thoroughly cooked.  Herb-roasted salmon goes great with a Mediterranean salad and a bit of French bread (or olive bread) with olive oil.

Baking Salmon for Burritos

Making salmon burritos takes a little bit more time but is well worth it.  You buy half a pound of thin-sliced salmon.  Prepare a full serving of rice.  Preheat your oven to 400 degrees.  Mix 1 tablespoon of olive oil, a squeeze of lemon, two cloves of garlic and a touch of pepper in a bowl.  Place your salmon on a baking dish (over foil and a light coating of olive oil).  Poor the garlic-pepper mix over the salmon.

In a separate lightly olive oil coated baking dish, place onions, cilantro, and chili peppers.  Bake for 12 minutes.  Then add and mix salmon for 10 additional minutes or until salmon looks completely done.

Place in tortillas and mix with rice and lettuce in desired amounts.  Careful not to overfill.  Baked salmon burritos go especially well with sour cream and a small amount of fresh salsa.

Some people also like it served cold.

Other Recipes

Once you start thinking about it, you might find that salmon is a great substitute for almost any recipe where you want a great source of protein.  Salmon can work great in hamburgers (“salmon burgers”) or as parts of a salad.  You can find great recipes for Hawaiian barbecued salmon, which is just great.  You can probably also think of how you might combine salmon in your favorite Chinese dishes or perhaps as part of a shish kabob.

Not only will you find that salmon is easy to work with and tasty but it is also a very healthy food.  So go ahead and enjoy baking salmon recipes without any regrets.
